Party Time: WhatsApp will still be on Blackberry till mid next year
It is true that the glorious Blackberry days are
grinding down to an end. That time when
Blackberry was the ID card of the mighty and
true love was when you get your crush the
blackberry bold series. Brethren you still
remember right? When Blackberry BBM was the
internet fraternity of the happening people.
Fast forward to today, Blackberry has lost a great
deal of that aura. The likes of the passport and
the rest are fading into the background. And to
rub salt on Blackberry’s wounds, WhatsApp
announced that they were discontinuing support
for Blackberry this 2016. For most of us, this was
the straw that broke the camel’s back. Not having
WhatsApp was our sure eviction notice from
Blackberry patronage. But it seems we have been
given a period of grace and mercy as WhatsApp
is changing its plans a bit.
When you look quickly to the FAQ section on the
website of WhatsApp, you see that support for
BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS has been
mercifully shifted to June 30, 2017.
Also among the other platforms getting this brief
amnesty, include Symbian S60 as well as Nokia
S40. Other platforms though such as Android 2.2
and Android 2.1, and even the Windows Phone 7,
as well as iPhone 3GS/iOS 6 – will be packed off
losing official WhatsApp support.
Thanks for mercy!
